WGSN SS19 Macro Trends

So, the macro trends for SS19 by WGSN are as follows:

  • Common Ground
  • In Touch
  • Creative Manifesto

I find that the best place to find images and further information on these three macro trends are on Pinterest. It’s a great source and visual aid in collating ideas and trends/themes.

Spring Fair 2018

I always attend the Spring Fair at the NEC each year. It’s a huge exhibition with exhibitors expanding over 20 halls this year. A lot of walking! Met some fantastic exhibitors and got some great feedback on my 2018 licenced designs.

It’s also nice to catch up with existing clients, chat face to face for a change instead of by email or phone and show them my new designs.

This year was also a bit different for me as I have a few products on show at the DIT stand in Hall 9 and a networking lunch with a number of overseas clients, some of which I have some work from!

Top Drawer, Olympia London

Well for the first time I visited Top Drawer this year. Great venue and there were some fantastic stands there, great designers exhibiting their products.

It was worth a visit and I would recommend to any new designer to visit and see how more experienced designers present themselves and their goods on their stands.

I even treated myself to a first-class ticket on the train which was a little bit of luxury for me!

Recent review of my Colouring Book

I received a lovely review recently for my colouring book:

Love love love this book. The patterns are terrific, whether you’re looking for simplicity or something more complex, the designs in the book have it covered.

I especially like the little snippets of info about the various patterns. I’ve kept this book for myself but I’m going to buy more as gifts for birthdays/Christmas

Amsterdam trade mission with DIT

This trip was fantastic! Not only were we superbly looked after by the DIT, but the organising of everything from ferry to hotels to restaurants ran so smoothly.

The British delegates, all 23 of us, had to each make a 60 second elevator pitch to a room full of Dutch buyers and retailers but we even got to go to an impromptu trade exhibition that just happened to be on in Amsterdam whilst we were there.

It was overall an insightful trip into the buying trends of the Dutch and I met some fantastic British entrepreneurs.
